Moore Family Events
The Moore Family Events website was developed to be a resource that family can access to get information and updates on family events. The goal of the Board of Directors is to oversee the coordination of these events, promote family unity and preserve the legacy of the Moore family.
Board of Directors Mission Statement
Our mission is to honor and respect the family legacy by using our time, talents, and resources wisely to promote family unity. We will strive to be respectful of one another; we will encourage full participation in family events. We pledge to foster the open exchange of family communication and information; to promote education, hard work and initiative to motivate family members, and be subject to maintaining privacy and adhering to the Board bylaws.
Our Roots
The Moore family’s roots have been traced back to Camden, South Carolina and in present day, much of the Moore family is based in Bridgeport CT, Norwalk, CT and Camden, SC.
Our Matriarch
Sarah Ann Moore
The city of Camden, South Carolina (Kershaw County) was blessed with the birth of a strong and wonderful woman on October 27th in the early 1900s. Sarah Ann Moore was born to her parents Isaac and Jeanette. Unfortunately, at a very young age Sarah Ann endured the devastating loss of her mother.
Sarah Ann later migrated to North Carolina in search of a greener pasture for herself and her family. Though she endured some struggles in life, she became the pillar of her family. She got married and was blessed with eight beautiful children whom she raised in Norwalk, CT. She was employed as a domestic worker to pay the family bills and provide for the family’s need. Her family later began to expand with the blessings of new family members through birth. She became a grandmother and a great-grandmother.
In November 1965, Sarah Ann died and left behind her two sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Even in death, she exists in the heart, and memory of her family members as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. By honoring Sarah Ann Moore as the Matriarch of the Moore Family, we continue to live her legacy each and every day.
